all you need is love
I have officially completed my list. Now I just have 3 others to finish.....
So here you have it, my first edition of the Top 20 Best Love Story Films
I do appreciate feedback, please tell me if you love or hate these movies, which movies you think should be on there, etc. because this is (not yet) the definitive list. It still needs some reworking, which will come in part from critique (and mostly from Nathan helping me). Still, this was very deeply thought out, and I hope I shouldn't have to make too many revisions. Also, the final list will be complete with my commentary on why it makes the list. Enjoy!

I'm sure I don't know much about love story films since I've only seen about four of these...but you've done a nice job! I must say, though, that seeing Elizabethtown on the same page as Casablanca and Westside Story is jarring to my brain. I'm sure this was a misprint that will shortly be corrected.
Oh, and thank you for not including Love Story. That would have been too much and I would have boycotted your blog. And I never would have said, "I'm sorry." ;-)

While I do understand and respect your position on Elizabethtown, let me 'splain--no, there is too much, let me sum up: In this list, I tried to find love stories that were very different from each other. Casablanca and West Side Story represent one kind of love story about extraordinary people, the classic, overcomes all, "forever-kind-of-love" story. Which is great. But Elizabethtown is a very different representation of love about ordinary people, the odd, left-of-center, quirky love.
And trust me, I would have boycotted my blog, too, if I had put Love Story on there.
Hmm...I think your list is interesting, for sure. Not sure that I agree with many of them, but to each her own! :-) I tend to think unconventional love stories, especially those that aren't really billed as "love" movies are some of the most truly romantic.
For example: Hawaii. Now, first of all, I was several+ decades away from being born when this movie was made (1966-ish?) but it's always struck me as incredibly romantic. Another one is Amazing Grace. Still another example is The Last Samurai. I'm just weird, I guess.
However, Pride and Prejudice I agree with! ;-)
